- - - The New York Giants have been adding to their offensive line stable the past few days with the signing of tackle Matt Gono, guard Mark Glowinski and prospective center Jon Feliciano. That’s about as good a use of the very little salary cap space they have as one could give hoped. - But they are far from done. The offensive line will still be a top focus this summer in both free agency and the upcoming draft. The three new faces will likely compete for starting spots on the line. - Currently, only left tackle is penciled in with former first rounder Andrew Thomas developing into a franchise player. The other four spots are up for grabs. - Shane Lemieux will vie for a guard spot after missing most of last season with a knee injury. So will his replacement, Ben Bredeson, who the Giants got in a trade with Baltimore last season. At tackle, Matt Peart is still on the roster and the new coaching staff will attempt to revive his prospects. - Feliciano will be tried at center, which he calls his favorite position. He likely won’t get a challenge from Nick Gates, who apparently is not close to returning from the frightening leg injury he suffered last season. - - People are asking me about Nick Gates since the Feliciano signing. I’m hearing Gates had a little setback with the rod in his leg and is not expected to be on the field for a awhile. Don’t expect to see the big guy this summer. - — The Giant Insider Newspaper & Podcast (@GiantInsider) March 17, 2022 - - - Gates’ leg fracture was one of the more severe we’ve seen in years and his comeback was reportedly going well. This news is not encouraging and the Giants are likely to seek another center. - Billy Price, who finished last season at the position, is a free agent and it’s possible the Giants turn back to him, but the draft might be a better place to turn. - - List - - New York Giants' 2022 free agency scorecard - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Email - - - - - Sign up - - - - - - - - Like this article? - Sign up for the Giants Wire email newsletter to get our top stories in your inbox every morning - - - - An error has occured - - - Please re-enter your email address. - - - - - - Thanks for signing up! - - - You'll now receive the top Giants Wire stories each day directly in your inbox.
