The New York Giants quarterback coach Shea Tierney has been busy as of recently. After just attending the Pittsburgh Pro Day to scout Kenny Pickett, the Giants sent Tierney to Liberty to watch potential top-10 pick, quarterback Malik Willis. - - Hearing Giants QB coach Shea Tierney has made the trek to Liberty Pro Day, where Malik Willis is the featured prospect. - Tierney was in Pittsburgh watching Kenny Pickett yesterday. - More evaluation for NYG, who are likely more invested in who wants to move up for QB in Top 10. - — Art Stapleton (@art_stapleton) March 22, 2022 - - - Willis has been an outstanding quarterback during his time as a Liberty Flame, throwing for over 5,000 yards and 45 touchdowns during his two years as a starter. Willis was also a true dual-threat, rushing for 1,822 yards and 17 touchdowns during his 23 starts. - Willis’ amazing play since transferring from Auburn has made him a top prospect in this new age of dual-threat quarterbacks. He also had a phenomenal combine where he threw some amazing deep balls helping his overall draft stock. Willis currently has worked his way up to the top 10 discussion and he may possibly even be a top-five pick in this year’s draft. - However, despite this recent quarterback scouting, it remains unlikely the Giants will select a quarterback with either of their two top 10 picks. They have too many needs and there has been a general commitment to Daniel Jones for this upcoming season. - However, if the Giants were to target a quarterback they have plenty of capital to trade back to a desirable spot to draft any of this year’s top field generals. - - If the Giants aren't sold on drafting Kenny Pickett or Malik Willis for themselves, which I don't believe they are, the consecutive Pro Days for Pickett and Willis have seemed to juice the trade-back market up a bit. - That's good for business if you're Joe Schoen. - — Art Stapleton (@art_stapleton) March 22, 2022 - - - In addition to the Liberty Pro Day, the Giants also had representatives on hand at the Iowa State Pro Day. - - One guy NFL scouts are higher on than media is Iowa State’s Charlie Kolar. TE coaches from Falcons, Eagles, Giants, Saints, Cards, and Titans were at @CycloneFB pro-day today. Looked noticeably different this year from junior tape in terms of bend & fluidity. Nice look here: pic.twitter.com/5dkKX7S2Xb - — Jim Nagy (@JimNagy_SB) March 22, 2022 - - - It does not hurt to be prepared, and general manager Joe Schoen making sure he does his research on all the potential quarterback options is a good look for this new era of management in Giants football. - Regardless of what Schoen and the Giants decide, they will need to make the right decision because the team has been somewhat of a dumpster fire at the quarterback position over the past several seasons.
