- - - The New York Giants are in the midst of a rebuild and what better place to start than the offensive line, the poster child for all of their recent offensive ills. - The Giants entered the offseason with just one position — left tackle (Andrew Thomas) — spoken for, which is an unusual predicament when rebuilding a line. Usually, team have everything but the left tackle in place. - With additions at guard, center and tackle in the form of free agents Mark Glowinski, Jon Feliciano, Matt Gono and Jamil Douglas, the Giants have added some starters and key depth to a unit that also sports holdovers Shane Lemieux, Ben Bredeson, Matt Peart and Nick Gates among others. - That gives Giants co-owner John Mara some hope. But that came with a prayer to the good Lord above. - - John Mara: “Our offensive line should be better, god willing.” - — Zack Rosenblatt (@ZackBlatt) March 27, 2022 - - - “Our offensive line should be better,” Mara said. “God willing.” - The Giants also currently own the fifth, seventh and 36th overall picks and are expected to address the line with one or more of those selections. They will be in excellent position to grab one of the three top tackles in the draft in Alabama’s Evan Neal, Ikem Ekwonu of North Carolina State and Mississippi State’s Charles Cross. - Last year, the line was hit with a slew of injuries early on and the team was forced to trade for backup players as well as scour the waiver wire for viable options. As a result, the line never got its legs under it and the offense was rendered dysfunctional and finished 31st in the league. - Follow the Giants Wire Podcast: - Apple Podcasts | Spotify | Google Podcasts - - Will Giants draft an O-lineman with their first pick? - Powered By PickUp - - - - - - - - - - - - Email - - - - - Sign up - - - - - - - - Like this article? - Sign up for the Giants Wire email newsletter to get our top stories in your inbox every morning - - - - An error has occured - - - Please re-enter your email address. - - - - - - Thanks for signing up! - - - You'll now receive the top Giants Wire stories each day directly in your inbox.
