- - - The New York Giants entered the offseason with a specific focus on repairing the offensive line. They needed as many as four new starters and several versatile reserves. - Thus far, general manager Joe Schoen has stayed true to his word. The team has added five new offensive linemen with starting experience in the NFL, many of them on the interior. But one thing the Giants have not done is sign a new starting right tackle. - There’s a method to that madness, however. The 2022 NFL draft is packed full of top-end tackle talent and the Giants fully intend to dip their toe into that pool. - “I’d say we’ll be looking to add . . . that’s an important spot,” head coach Brian Daboll said of the team’s need for a right tackle. - Even if there’s a run on right tackles early, the Giants should still have an option come pick No. 5. Evan Neal (Alabama), Ikem Ekwonu (North Carolina State) and Charles Cross (Mississippi State) are the top three at the position and New York has spent significant time scouting all three. - Assuming things go according to plan and the Giants do end up with one of the trio, their 2022 offensive line might look a little something like this: - - LT Andrew Thomas - LG Mark Glowinski - C Jon Feliciano - RG Max Garcia - Neal/Ekwonu/Cross - - At least on paper, that would be significant improvement over any group the Giants have fielded in the past decade. And it would certainly give quarterback Daniel Jones a legitimate chance to prove his worth behind a capable — even if they’re simply average — offensive line. - Follow the Giants Wire Podcast: - Apple Podcasts | Spotify | Google Podcasts - - Will Giants draft an O-lineman with their first pick? - Powered By PickUp - - - - - - - - - - - - Email - - - - - Sign up - - - - - - - - Like this article? - Sign up for the Giants Wire email newsletter to get our top stories in your inbox every morning - - - - An error has occured - - - Please re-enter your email address. - - - - - - Thanks for signing up! - - - You'll now receive the top Giants Wire stories each day directly in your inbox.
