The Baltimore Lord Baltimores team was managed by Joseph Callis and Hugh Cummings. Baltimore won their opening game on May 6, 1884, a 15–12 victory over the Philadelphia Pythians. The Lord Baltimores were quickly affected by financial struggles that impacted league member teams. After a game in Louisville, the Boston Resolutes franchise discovered it did not have the finances to pay for the team to travel to their next game in Baltimore and its players were stranded in Louisville. Baltimore then refused to travel to a scheduled game in Louisville. The Lord Baltimores had a 2–4 record at the time the National Colored Base Ball League folded on May 23, 1887, placing 3rd of the four remaining teams. The Philadelphia and New York teams had both folded on May 18, 1887, while the Cincinnati and Washington franchises folded before playing a game. These franchise moves left the final National Colored Base Ball League standings to reflect the Baltimore Lord Baltimores in 3rd place with their 2–4 (,333) record, behind the Boston Resolutes 1–0 (1.000), and Pittsburgh Keystones 3–4 (.429), but ahead of Louisville Fall City 1–2 (.333).
At the time the league folded, Baltimore was led by William Gray, who was hitting .417 and Stewart who had a 2–1 won-loss record as a pitcher.
