The Baltimore Ravens have added countless veterans to their organization that have made massive impacts over their time with the team. One of those players is cornerback Marcus Peters, who was acquired from the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for inside linebacker Kenny Young and a fifth-round pick back in 2019. - In his end of season press conference, Baltimore general manager Eric DeCosta was asked about Peters and if it’s realistic to expect him back with the franchise next season. DeCosta went into plenty of detail about how much Peters has meant to the Ravens, both on and off of the field. - “Oh, I love Marcus [Peters]. I talk to Marcus quite a bit. Marcus is one of these guys that, when he comes to your organization, he provides such an authentic perspective on what this game is all about, and he’s a Raven. He’s one of these rare guys that’s played for other teams, and there’s been other guys like him … I can go back over time and guys that would come to mind would be guys like Michael McCrary, Anquan Boldin, Steve Smith [Sr.], Matt Birk – guys that play for other places, they come, and they really change the culture that you have. So, I would expect Marcus to be here. I think he’s doing his rehab; I think he’s doing extremely well, and I can’t wait to see him.” - For DeCosta to put Peters in the same category as McCrary, Boldin, Smith, Birk and others is a big deal.  The veteran cornerback missed the entire 2021 season after tearing his ACL during a practice before the regular season, but in 24 games with Baltimore has accumulated 52 total tackles, seven interceptions and four forced fumbles. - Peters is scheduled to have a $15.5 million cap hit in 2022, and would save $10 million if let go. However, based off of DeCosta’s comments, it seems like Peters will be returning to Baltimore, and that’s the right choice. - - - - - - - - - - - - Email - - - - - Sign up - - - - - - - - Like this article? - Sign up for the Ravens Wire email newsletter to get our top stories in your inbox every morning - - - - An error has occured - - - Please re-enter your email address. - - - - - - Thanks for signing up! - - - You'll now receive the top Ravens Wire stories each day directly in your inbox.
