The Baltimore Ravens face a pivotal offseason in 2022. They will be tasked with improving their team in multiple areas through free agency, the draft and even trades in order to keep up with the rest of the NFL and achieve their goal of winning a Super Bowl. - Michelle Bruton of Bleacher Report put together one free agent move that each NFL team could make during the 2022 offseason. For Baltimore, she said that the team will let defensive lineman Calais Campbell walk or retire during free agency. When explaining her choice, Bruton talked about the Ravens’ cap space and how they most likely shouldn’t commit a massive amount of money to Campbell. - - “The Ravens have only moderate cap space, at $9.8 million. And for a team that was essentially one overtime field goal away from making the postseason, there are other areas it needs to upgrade—and should look to get younger overall—to maximize its championship window with Lamar Jackson…If Campbell is willing to take a discount to finish his career in Baltimore, the Ravens should explore that. But they can’t afford to give him $10-plus million per season again.” - - It’s currently unclear whether Campbell will decide to continue playing football or call it a career. He has been a valuable piece of Baltimore’s defense over the last two years, but if he were to come back to the Ravens in 2022, it would most likely have to be at a reduced price. - - - - - - - - - - - - Email - - - - - Sign up - - - - - - - - Like this article? - Sign up for the Ravens Wire email newsletter to get our top stories in your inbox every morning - - - - An error has occured - - - Please re-enter your email address. - - - - - - Thanks for signing up! - - - You'll now receive the top Ravens Wire stories each day directly in your inbox.
