The Baltimore Ravens are a widely respected franchise throughout the NFL for many reasons. They have a standard of excellence on the field as well as off of it, and because of it they are regarded as a model organization. - The team has developed many players, coaches and executives to help not only in Baltimore, but in any next stops after the Ravens. When Baltimore general manager Eric DeCosta was asked about director of player personnel Joe Hortiz, he gushed about how one day a team will be getting a really good football mind. - “…Joe is smart, he’s a great evaluator, he’s got a strong voice. He’s always been, kind of, my sidekick. For probably the last, I don’t know, maybe, 11 years, Joe has sat next to me in the Draft Room and has kind of watched what we do and how we do it. I was blessed that at an early age in my career here, I had the chance to run the Draft, and really, that’s been a huge help for me. So, I think Joe has a great career [ahead of him]. He’ll be a G.M. some day. A smart team is going to hire him. He’s got a great skill set, he’s a great collaborator, he’s got a great eye for talent…” - Hortiz has been with the organization since 1998, and has put in an incredible amount of work to get to where his is today. He was a candidate for the New York Giants’ general manager position, but was ultimately passed up for a different option. Hortiz would be a great hire for any team, and he has the track record as well as experience to prove it. - - - - - - - - - - - - Email - - - - - Sign up - - - - - - - - Like this article? - Sign up for the Ravens Wire email newsletter to get our top stories in your inbox every morning - - - - An error has occured - - - Please re-enter your email address. - - - - - - Thanks for signing up! - - - You'll now receive the top Ravens Wire stories each day directly in your inbox.
