The Baltimore Ravens have a bit of cap space to work with as they enter 2022 free agency. They have plenty of needs to address, but if they are able to add more talent to an already talented roster, they can re-establish themselves as prime Super Bowl contenders after a disappointing 2021 season. - When listing out potential landing spots for star safety Tyrann Mathieu, Tyler Sullivan of CBS Sports has Baltimore as one of them, saying that the team needs some help in the secondary as well as the veteran just feels like a Raven. - “The Baltimore Ravens would need to create more than the $9.7 million in cap space they currently are projected to have this offseason to make a run at Mathieu. Outside of the financials, Mathieu just feels like a Baltimore Raven. The franchise has a strong history of getting the best out of versatile safeties and Mathieu could be the latest installment if he were to leave Kanas City. Baltimore could also use the boost in the secondary after ranking 30th in DVOA against the pass last season.” - Mathieu was a free agent in 2019, but signed with the Kansas City Chiefs while Baltimore signed Earl Thomas III. The veteran safety is a versatile option that can play in many different spots on a defense, and would be a solid investment for a Ravens team that could be looking for a few upgrades in their defensive backfield. - - At the end of his article, Sullivan predicted that Mathieu would sign back with Kansas City. - - - - - - - - - - - - Email - - - - - Sign up - - - - - - - - Like this article? - Sign up for the Ravens Wire email newsletter to get our top stories in your inbox every morning - - - - An error has occured - - - Please re-enter your email address. - - - - - - Thanks for signing up! - - - You'll now receive the top Ravens Wire stories each day directly in your inbox.
