The Baltimore Ravens went through a very trying season in 2021 that involved many different injuries to a lot of their key players. Those ailments were a key reason why the team finished the year at 8-9, missing out on the playoffs for the first time since 2017. With the team focused on improving the team during the 2022 offseason, they can look to plenty of different avenues to bring new talent to Baltimore. One of those avenues is the draft, where the Ravens are projected to have 10 selections. In his latest 2022 mock draft, Kyle Stackpole of CBS Sports gave Baltimore some defensive line help with Jordan Davis out of the University of Georgia. When explaining his pick, Stackpole talked about how the Ravens’ defensive line could be undergoing major changes in the offseason and Davis would help clog up running lanes. “Defensive linemen Brandon Williams and Calais Campbell are the team’s most-expensive players expected to become free agents, and there’s a good chance, for a multitude of reasons, that neither of them are back in Baltimore in 2022. That would leave a gaping hole up front, but one that the 6-foot-6, 340-pound Davis could immediately fill. Davis won’t add much as a pass rusher, but he’ll be huge (literally) in clogging up running lanes to free up linebackers.” As Stackpole notes, Davis is a massive 6-foot-6, 340 pound mountain who commands a double team on almost every single play. He is a dominant run defender, and has grown as a pass rusher over his years at Georgia, being able to effectively push the pocket with his raw strength. He played for four years as a Bulldog, and racked up 90 total tackles and seven sacks, but his impact goes far beyond the box score. Davis would be a good fit in Baltimore’s defensive scheme. With the uncertain futures of Calais Campbell and Brandon Williams, the Ravens will likely have to add talent to their defensive line. Davis is widely regarded as the best at his position in the 2022 draft class, and could immediately come in and contribute. Email Sign up Like this article?
