The Baltimore Ravens have historically been a very good drafting team. They’ve developed plenty of young players within their organization and have developed reliable strategies to select for both talent and need. - In his first 2022 NFL mock draft, Daniel Jeremiah of NFL Network selected a player for every projected pick of the first round. For Baltimore, he selected a towering offensive lineman in the University of Northern Iowa’s Trevor Penning. When explaining his selection, Jeremiah talked about how Penning could fit in seamlessly on the right side opposite of Ravens left tackle Ronnie Stanley. - “Some guys just look and play like Ravens. That’s Penning. He’s big and nasty and could step in immediately at right tackle, opposite Ronnie Stanley.” - Penning stands at a massive 6-foot-7 and weighs around 321 pounds. He has a mean streak to him, as is a very physical player in the run game and is a powerful player overall, especially at the point of attack. He is very hard to get the better of physically, especially in the passing game when it comes to things like bull rushes. He isn’t the best athlete and isn’t a mobile as some teams will probably like, but there’s no denying the talent that he has. - Although Penning played on the left side at UNI, some believe that he would be a better fit playing right tackle at the NFL level, including Jeremiah based off of his explanation of the pick. Baltimore will certainly be in the market for offensive lineman this offseason, and Penning could be a player who ends up in a Ravens uniform at the conclusion of the 2022 draft. - - - - - - - - - - - - Email - - - - - Sign up - - - - - - - - Like this article? - Sign up for the Ravens Wire email newsletter to get our top stories in your inbox every morning - - - - An error has occured - - - Please re-enter your email address. - - - - - - Thanks for signing up! - - - You'll now receive the top Ravens Wire stories each day directly in your inbox.
