USAT: Bills Wire

Jan 27, 2022

The fast and furious day relating to NFL head-coaching hirings on Thursday had one under-the-radar piece of news that could affect the Buffalo Bills in the near future. - According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn has informed teams he has spoken to regarding their head coaching vacancies that he is no longer interested. He will be staying in Dallas. - Now onto the Bills. - Quinn has interviewed with several teams and was one of the top names on the market after the way the Cowboys’ defense improved last season. Of the clubs he has spoken to, the New York Giants and Miami Dolphins are on that list. - Those two teams have also had interviews with both of Buffalo’s coordinators: Brian Daboll and Leslie Frazier. Had Quinn kept his name in the running, naturally that would have helped the Bills keep their coaches for the 2022 season. - In this realm, Quinn could have been a real difference maker for Buffalo. - According to a New York Daily News report this week, Daboll, Buffalo’s offensive coordinator, was called “the favorite” to land the gig in Miami. If that were to happen, the report followed up that Quinn would be amongst the Giants’ next top candidates. Frazier, Buffalo’s defensive coordinator, is also in the running in New York still. - And speaking of the Bills’ AFC East rival, Quinn has also interviewed there, per Dolphins Wire. - Had Quinn just had a little more interest in the Dolphins or Giants, he could have really done the Bills a solid. - Still, no decisions have yet been made regarding the openings in Miami and New York. Plenty can change in the coming hours and days so there’s still a chance Buffalo could still keep their coordinators in place heading into 2022. - Stay tuned to Bills Wire throughout the winter as we will provide all updates regarding Buffalo assistants and front-office members that are connected to other NFL teams. - - RelatedBears hire head coach not named Brian Daboll or Leslie FrazierCouple arrested after allegedly attending Bills playoff game with fake COVID vaccine cardsGiants' GM Joe Schoen wants this type of head coach amid Bills connections - - - - - - - - - - - - Email - - - - - Sign up - - - - - - - - Like this article? - Sign up for the Bills Wire email newsletter to get our top stories in your inbox every morning - - - - An error has occured - - - Please re-enter your email address. - - - - - - Thanks for signing up! - - - You'll now receive the top Bills Wire stories each day directly in your inbox.
