The Buffalo Bills fell in a grouping of seven teams in the NFL that had a distinct type of praise placed upon them from Pro Football Focus. - The football analytics outlet combined finances and quarterback WAR (wins above replacement) statistics. In doing so, PFF named which teams were the “most efficient” spenders in the league on offense in 2021. Buffalo makes an appearance. - Here’s the outlet’s breakdown on the Bills’ QB/ offense spending: - BUFFALO BILLS - $78.2 million spent, 5.72 WAR earned - The big money for the Josh Allen deal is still a bit away, but Allen followed up an MVP-like campaign with another good regular season in 2021. He was insane in the playoffs, putting together two epic performances in a run that fell just short of a return to the AFC Championship game. - The other six teams appearing on PFF’s list, in no particular order, were: - - Eagles (4.67 WAR) - Bengals (5.89 WAR) - Patriots (5.86 WAR) - Buccaneers (8.18 WAR) - Rams (6.51 WAR) - - Some of these teams might be confusing, but PFF’s breakdown makes it clear: - The truly good investments at the QB position are the players who are a) on rookie deals and competent, or b) veteran players who are elite enough to elevate those around them, many of whom will not be making the big bucks as a result of their own deal. - While it might sting to see the Pats listed here with the Bills, let’s be honest, Buffalo is in much better shape. - A team such as New England falls under the first category. The Bills are in the latter category and this PFF metric emphasizes how Buffalo could be a team destined to make postseason runs over and over again for years to come thanks to Allen’s long-term extension. - The Patriots are going to be in shape because of Mac Jones’ contract for a few years, but will his skill set follow? That’s a big question that still needs answering. - And of course, kudos to Bills general manager for the part he has played here. - - RelatedBills' Stefon Diggs recruited at Pro Bowl: 'I’m telling guys to come to Buffalo'Stefon Diggs switches places, locks down brother Trevon at Pro Bowl (video)Bills bring Aaron Kromer back as offensive line coach - - - - - - - - - - - - Email - - - - - Sign up - - - - - - - - Like this article? - Sign up for the Bills Wire email newsletter to get our top stories in your inbox every morning - - - - An error has occured - - - Please re-enter your email address. - - - - - - Thanks for signing up! - - - You'll now receive the top Bills Wire stories each day directly in your inbox.
