The Buffalo Bills and New York Giants connection could soon grow. - At the top of the offseason, the Giants hired former Bills head coach Brian Daboll as their head coach. Other players and assistant coaches have followed. - Now the biggest on-field name might join the gang. - According to ESPN, the New York is expected to “make a run” at Buffalo quarterback Mitchell Trubisky in free agency. Linking back up with Daboll is the main connection referenced: - A key selling point for the Giants is having Trubisky reunite with coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen. Both came from Buffalo, where Trubisky spent last season after four years with the Chicago Bears. - In heading to New York, Trubisky would join up with several familiar faces, even just in the quarterbacks room. Former Bills QBs Davis Webb and Jake Fromm are currently with the Giants. Shea Tierney, now New York’s QB coach, was in Buffalo in 2020 as well. - It remains to be seen if Trubisky likes the situation Daboll offers up. - Trubisky might feel like he’s behind the eight ball in New York. Giants ownership has shown support for incumbent starter Daniel Jones this offseason, so clearly it might be a difficult path for Trubisky in terms of finding a starting job. - Trubisky did recently reveal some positive thoughts on the prospect of heading there, though. - “I think of coach Daboll right away just because of my connection with him right away in Buffalo,” Trubisky said via the Adam Schefter Podcast. “I’m excited to see what he does in New York. I don’t know where I’m gonna go, but I know whatever he does there he’s going to do a great job with that offense.” - Other options to watch for in terms of where Trubisky could sign include teams such as the Pittsburgh Steelers or New Orleans Saints. - Throughout this offseason, the Bills have stated they would welcome Trubisky back as their No. 2 quarterback behind Josh Allen. In terms of Buffalo, they might wait to see what happens with Trubisky before signing another QB behind Allen. - But the Bills also admitted their feelings: They think he’ll be signed by another team. - - RelatedBuffalo Bills re-sign Jake Kumerow to one-year dealBills met with Washington's Kyler Gordon at 2022 NFL combineESPN's Ryan Clark says Bills 2021 team was better than 2020 (video) - - - - - - - - - - - - Email - - - - - Sign up - - - - - - - - Like this article? - Sign up for the Bills Wire email newsletter to get our top stories in your inbox every morning - - - - An error has occured - - - Please re-enter your email address. - - - - - - Thanks for signing up! - - - You'll now receive the top Bills Wire stories each day directly in your inbox.
