When Frisman Jackson moved on out to Pittsburgh, the Carolina Panthers suddenly had yet another void to fill on their fluctuating coaching staff. Well, that void will apparently be filled by a pretty intriguing name. - According to ESPN college football senior writer Pete Thamel, the Panthers are hiring Joe Dailey as their new wide receivers coach. - - Source: The Carolina Panthers are hiring Boston College WR coach Joe Dailey as the new WR coach. @On3sports first. - — Pete Thamel (@PeteThamel) February 14, 2022 - - - The 38-year-old has more than a decade’s worth of experience behind the scenes, with his most recent gig coming at Boston College as their wide receivers coach over the past two seasons. Prior to his stop with the Eagles, he headed the quarterback position for Bethune-Cookman University (2011), Liberty University (2012 to 2018) and the University of New Mexico (2019)—having also served as the offensive coordinator for the Flames and Lobos. - And why was he a quarterbacks coach? Because he was a quarterback! - Dailey was recruited as one of the nation’s top dual-threat passers by the University of Nebraska, where he played in 2003 and 2004. The Jersey City, N.J. native then transferred colleges (and positions) to the University of North Carolina, moving from under center to out wide as a receiver for his 2006 junior campaign. - As noted by our buddy John Ellis, Dailey will be the first Panthers wide receivers coach in their 27-year history not to have prior NFL coaching experience. - - RelatedPanthers, Matt Rhule viewed as 'lame duck situation' by league coachesPanthers take QB Malik Willis in latest Draft Wire mock - - List - - Panthers react to Super Bowl LVI - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Email - - - - - Sign up - - - - - - - - Like this article? - Sign up for the Panthers Wire email newsletter to get our top stories in your inbox every morning - - - - An error has occured - - - Please re-enter your email address. - - - - - - Thanks for signing up! - - - You'll now receive the top Panthers Wire stories each day directly in your inbox.
