Just because Carolina Panthers great Greg Olsen is retired, that doesn’t mean he’s through with battling the rival New Orleans Saints. - As first reported by New York Post sports media columnist Andrew Marchand, ESPN is on the verge of signing Troy Aikman to become the main analyst for “Monday Night Football.” That, in turn, would leave a spot open in FOX’s No. 1 broadcast team alongside play-by-play commentator Joe Buck—an opening Olsen will likely be considered for. - Marchand also notes the Panthers’ third all-time leading receiver won’t be the only candidate FOX has in mind. Olsen may have to fend off Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay, former New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton and former New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees—who is currently under contract with NBC—for the job. - Since retiring following the 2020 campaign, Olsen has become one of the broadcast game’s brightest stars. He currently serves as FOX’s No. 2 analyst with partner Kevin Burkhardt. - - RelatedPanthers legend Greg Olsen credits fatherhood for career emergencePanthers great Greg Olsen knows which all-time QB-TE duo he's taking - - List - - 6 Panthers greats who could be next for the Pro Football Hall of Fame - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Email - - - - - Sign up - - - - - - - - Like this article? - Sign up for the Panthers Wire email newsletter to get our top stories in your inbox every morning - - - - An error has occured - - - Please re-enter your email address. - - - - - - Thanks for signing up! - - - You'll now receive the top Panthers Wire stories each day directly in your inbox.
