Well, this is certainly a new one for the Carolina Panthers. - The first six or so weeks of offseason mock drafts have seen the Panthers sensibly address their problems. From the offensive line to under center to even at cornerback—we haven’t seen any startling surprises thus far . . . until now. - CBS Sports NFL draft analyst Chris Trapasso went way outside the box with Carolina’s sixth overall pick and took University of Southern California wideout Drake London. Yes, you read that right—a wideout! - Care to explain, Chris? - “The Panthers are probably going to sign someone at quarterback this offseason, right?” Trapasso proposes. “If they do, and don’t have to trade this selection, they should take a receiver to help said quarterback in 2022. London’s a beast.” - He’s certainly not wrong there. London is very much a beast, having recorded 88 receptions for 1,084 yards and seven touchdowns in 2021. - The 6-foot-5, 210-pounder could give the Panthers (and whatever quarterback they’ll be going into the season with) a tall and lanky target they otherwise do not have at the position. So while having DJ Moore, Robby Anderson and Terrace Marshall Jr. is quite nice, maybe adding a big red-zone target with undeniable traits would be a slick pick for a struggling offense. - - RelatedReport: Texans QB Deshaun Watson 'open-minded' toward PanthersPanthers take a fresh name in Daniel Jeremiah's latest 2022 mock draft - - List - - 6 tight ends the Panthers should consider in free agency - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Email - - - - - Sign up - - - - - - - - Like this article? - Sign up for the Panthers Wire email newsletter to get our top stories in your inbox every morning - - - - An error has occured - - - Please re-enter your email address. - - - - - - Thanks for signing up! - - - You'll now receive the top Panthers Wire stories each day directly in your inbox.
