Watching the Carolina Panthers trying to piece together an offensive line has been just about as fun as getting a root canal. So, let’s try to find some excitement. - For that, we can look no further than NFL.com—where Around the NFL writer Nick Shook played matchmaker between each team and the 64 top free agents. And in what he considered a “fun” pairing for the Panthers, guard James Daniels finds his way over in what would certainly be a hoot. - “The Panthers might lose one or both of their starting center and right guard, and Daniels can fill either void,” Shook writes. “Carolina doesn’t have a ton of projected cap space, but some financial gymnastics could make this work. The addition of Daniels would be a boon for whomever is playing quarterback for Matt Rhule in 2022.” - Ah, funny you say that, Nick. It just so happens the Panthers cleared up $11 million cap space on Friday by restructuring Taylor Moton’s contract. - We’re sure the standout right tackle would be more than pleased to find out some of that money could end up with a new comrade. See, we’re having fun already! - But the real kicks would come if Daniels does indeed sign on. The 24-year-old, who has already proven to be a solid presence during his time in Chicago, still has plenty of room and years to grow. - Not only has he never graded out below a 65.3 in a single season on Pro Football Focus’ scale, but he’s allowed only four sacks over 2,026 career pass-blocking snaps. With both John Miller and Michael Jordan being particularly inconsistent as Carolina’s starting guards in 2021, Daniels should be a prime target for this offense. - - RelatedESPN projects Sam Darnold as Panthers' 2022 Week 1 starting QBPanthers land G Brandon Scherff in CBS free agency mock draft - - List - - 4 interior linemen the Panthers should target in free agency - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Email - - - - - Sign up - - - - - - - - Like this article? - Sign up for the Panthers Wire email newsletter to get our top stories in your inbox every morning - - - - An error has occured - - - Please re-enter your email address. - - - - - - Thanks for signing up! - - - You'll now receive the top Panthers Wire stories each day directly in your inbox.
