The 2022 NFL draft’s sixth overall pick could come in handy for the Carolina Panthers—who are still searching for stability under center. So they made sure their trip to Pittsburgh on Monday was a hands-on experience for all involved. - Carolina had the largest contingent on hand for the Pitt Panthers pro day, where quarterback Kenny Pickett took centerstage amongst a handful of fellow teammates and draft hopefuls. But what took centerstage for Pickett, perhaps, were his polarizing mitts—something general manager Scott Fitterer wanted to get a firsthand look at. - - Scott Fitterer and Matt Rhule both getting a look at Kenny Pickett’s double-jointed thumb/hand size.Video ⁦@accnetwork⁩. pic.twitter.com/41FFDDtO2N - — Joe Person (@josephperson) March 21, 2022 - - - - Kenny Pickett showing off the hands to Carolina Panthers GM Scott Fitterer, would soon do it again for head coach Matt Rhule and offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo at #Pitt pro day: pic.twitter.com/IQbxXweIDe - — Christopher Carter (@CarterCritiques) March 21, 2022 - - - Even before the scouting combine, the attention surrounding Pickett’s particularly small grips got a bit out of hand. That attention increased when they measured out in Indianapolis at 8 1/2 inches—which would, hands down, account for the smallest amongst all NFL quarterbacks. - He tried his hand at a new measurement on Monday, resulting in a slightly larger number at 8 5/8 inches. Pickett then proceeded to take matters into his own hands, putting on an impressive throwing display for the curious onlookers—with his patented pair of gloves still on hand. - With the Panthers having failed miserably with hand-me-down passers in each of the past two seasons, the Heisman Trophy finalist will certainly continue to be under consideration for that first-round selection. It also helps that the organization should pretty much know Pickett like the back of their hand (or his) at this point. - Will Panthers draft Kenny Pickett? - Powered By PickUp - - RelatedPanthers owner David Tepper reportedly 'loves and wants' QB Kenny PickettKenny Pickett on Panthers HC Matt Rhule: 'He's a great person' - - List - - How the Panthers' potential 1st-round draft targets fared on Thursday - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Email - - - - - Sign up - - - - - - - - Like this article? - Sign up for the Panthers Wire email newsletter to get our top stories in your inbox every morning - - - - An error has occured - - - Please re-enter your email address. - - - - - - Thanks for signing up! - - - You'll now receive the top Panthers Wire stories each day directly in your inbox.
