Sam Mills spent just three of his 17 seasons of professional football with the Carolina Panthers. But those three years on the field, and a handful more on the sidelines, have resulted in an eternity’s worth of impact. - This week, Mills was named to the 2022 class of the North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame. He, along with nine other honorees, will be inducted on April 22 at the Raleigh Convention Center in the establishment’s 58th annual event. - “This year’s class includes a wide variety of athletic achievement, including professional, collegiate, high school, Olympic sports, and media, with some special contributions,” said Dr. Jerry McGee, president of the Hall’s Board of Directors. “This class of inductees and their outstanding accomplishments continue to build on the rich sports heritage of North Carolina. We look forward to celebrating these outstanding individuals in our state’s sports history.” - Mills played in Carolina from 1995 to 1997. His most impressive campaign came in 1996, where he earned his lone First-team All-Pro nod at the age of 37. - He then moved on to become a defensive assistant and linebackers coach for the team from 1998 to 2004, a time that featured his Hall of Honor induction and his inspirational “Keep Pounding” speech during the Panthers’ run to Super Bowl XXXVIII. - Hopefully, this won’t be the only hall Mills is announced for this year. - - RelatedSteve Smith Sr. congratulates Sam Mills on being named Hall of Fame finalist - - RelatedThe spirit of Sam Mills kept alive through use of "Keep Pounding" motto - - List - - Panthers' final 2021 statistical leaders - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Email - - - - - Sign up - - - - - - - - Like this article? - Sign up for the Panthers Wire email newsletter to get our top stories in your inbox every morning - - - - An error has occured - - - Please re-enter your email address. - - - - - - Thanks for signing up! - - - You'll now receive the top Panthers Wire stories each day directly in your inbox.
