Even at the time of the one-year, $6 million signing, the Carolina Panthers seemed to have really gotten themselves a bargain in Haason Reddick. But if they try to sign him again this spring, especially after his 2021, they probably won’t be as lucky. - The fifth-year outside linebacker had himself quite a campaign, posting 11.0 sacks over 16 games for Carolina. That total, when combined with last year’s 12.5 quarterback takedowns in Arizona, brings Reddick to a torrid 23.5-sack pace over the past two seasons. - And that’s not only something that’ll garner attention from the league’s other 31 teams, but it’s the type of production that Pro Football Focus has recognized in their recent free agent rankings—where Reddick sits seventh amongst edge defenders. - “Reddick has successfully transitioned from off-ball linebacker to edge rusher, so it’s now just a question of how high his ceiling can be,” the post notes. “He is a bit undersized as a full-time outside linebacker at 6-foot-1, 235 pounds, but he has a knack for bringing the quarterback, and his 22 sacks since 2020 are the fourth-most among edge rushers. Reddick can also set the edge moderately well in run defense and has put up a 68.9 grade through Week 13 of the 2021 season.” - PFF, additionally, has Reddick ranked 31st overall on the market and projects his incoming deal to be a three-year pact at an annual average of $11.67 million. So the question is—will the Panthers fork that over? - If you ask Reddick, he sure hopes so. The 27-year-old, on multiple occasions, has expressed his desire to stay in Carolina. - But with a fairly limited amount of cap space and a handful of areas that need addressing, Reddick may have to get that deal elsewhere. - - RelatedPanthers' Haason Reddick on Pro Bowl snub: 'It is what it is' - - RelatedPanthers DE Haason Reddick remains one of NFL's most efficient pass rushers - - List - - One free agent each NFL team should want to sign in 2022 - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Email - - - - - Sign up - - - - - - - - Like this article? - Sign up for the Panthers Wire email newsletter to get our top stories in your inbox every morning - - - - An error has occured - - - Please re-enter your email address. - - - - - - Thanks for signing up! - - - You'll now receive the top Panthers Wire stories each day directly in your inbox.
