Tony Romo is already a TV success. Now the lead color man for CBS’s NFL coverage is branching out into episodic television. - The former Cowboys quarterback is reportedly helping to develop a football drama series for Showtime, which is owned by ViacomCBS. Romo’s partners in the project include Gossip Girl and The Boys actor Chace Crawford and Drew Comins, the executive producer of Yellowjackets, already a hit for the network. - All three are expected to share executive producer credits for the new series, which will be produced by eOne, the company currently responsible for Yellowjackets. - The as-yet untitled series is said to be in early development, with a search underway for a writer. It’s said to be aiming to be “a cross between Succession and Friday Night Lights” and will follow a fictitious “first family” of football, with storylines focusing on the players, coaches, and behind-the-scenes power brokers in the high-stakes world of America’s biggest professional sport. - Crawford is Romo’s brother-in-law; his sister Candace Crawford is Tony’s wife. The pair previously teamed up as two of the executive producers of the 2016 film “Undrafted,” a comedy/drama about a college baseball star who channels his disappointment about not making the Majors into a summer intramural game with a ragtag group of friends. - - List - - News and Notes: Cowboys' Parsons, Diggs dominate skills competitions, free agency paths to take - - - - - - - - List - - Tenn-Chatanooga OL Cole Strange wins Day 3 of Senior Bowl practices, full list of week's standouts - - - - - - - - List - - Texas A&M OLKenyon Green would be perfect fit alongside Cowboys' greats - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Email - - - - - Sign up - - - - - - - - Like this article? - Sign up for the Cowboys Wire email newsletter to get our top stories in your inbox every morning - - - - An error has occured - - - Please re-enter your email address. - - - - - - Thanks for signing up! - - - You'll now receive the top Cowboys Wire stories each day directly in your inbox.
