For all of the accolades that the Dallas Cowboys scouting department had received throughout the years, the team had never kept more than nine draft choices and the average number was keeping six. The 1975 draft is considered to be one of the best in league history because 12 picks made the roster, hence the nickname "The Dirty Dozen". This rookie class, didn't even include linebacker Mike Hegman, who was drafted that year but did not enter the NFL until 1976. Neither was included rookie undrafted free agent quarterback Jim Zorn who made the team, but was later cut to make room for running back Preston Pearson, who had been waived by the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Alluding that this generation of players is softer than it was back in his day- Haley admits he doesn't watch much football because it's different now. “I’d talk about your mom, your wife , your kids, friends whoever because I needed to know who I’m playing with and know if you are a dawg or not,” Haley says.
Fascinated by his larger than life persona, the guys try to tap in to his mindset on and off the field and why he developed such a bad reputation from walking around naked, to the infamous White House stories, to fighting with teammates to someone who should have been a first ballot Hall Of Famer.”
Charles talks about only having one regret in his career and the differences between playing for the 49ers and the Cowboys.

However, in a game against the Chicago Bears during the seventh week of that season, coach Tom Landry alternated Staubach and Morton on each play, sending in the quarterbacks with the play call from the sideline. Dallas gained almost 500 yards of offense but committed seven turnovers that resulted in a 23–19 loss to a mediocre Bears squad that dropped the Cowboys to 4–3 for the season, two games behind the Washington Redskins in the NFC East race.
