The Denver Broncos are expected to hire Los Angeles Rams secondary coach/pass game coordinator Ejiro Evero as their new defensive coordinator after Super Bowl LVI. - Evero will be hired barring an unforeseen “hiccup,” according to a report from KUSA-TV’s Mike Klis. Denver won’t be able to officially hire him until after the Rams’ season is over following their Super Bowl showdown with the Cincinnati Bengals on Feb. 13. - Evero will be replacing Ed Donatell, who served as the Broncos’ defensive coordinator under former coach Vic Fangio from 2019-2021. While Fangio’s DC won’t remain, elements of his defensive scheme will. - Evero overlapped with Fangio’s tenure with the San Francisco 49ers in 2014, although Evero was an offensive coach at the time. Evero later joined the Rams’ staff in 2017, and he coached under then-DC Brandon Staley in 2020. - Staley coached under Fangio from 2017-2018 with the Chicago Bears and in 2019 in Denver, learning the coach’s defensive scheme. So while Evero hasn’t directly coached under Fangio, he will likely have a somewhat similar defense, providing some continuity on that side of the ball. - We are tracking all of the Broncos’ coaching changes on this page. - - List - - 8 potential candidates to buy the Broncos if the team is sold - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Email - - - - - Sign up - - - - - - - - Like this article? - Sign up for the Broncos Wire email newsletter to get our top stories in your inbox every morning - - - - An error has occured - - - Please re-enter your email address. - - - - - - Thanks for signing up! - - - You'll now receive the top Broncos Wire stories each day directly in your inbox.
