ESPN has added another year to its contract with Peyton and Eli Manning to continue serving as commentators for alternate broadcasts of “Monday Night Football,” now through the 2024 season. - That’s great news for Denver Broncos who enjoy watching Peyton and Eli call NFL games, but it might not be good news for fans who hoped Peyton would become a (minority) owner of the team. - Manning is believed to be interested in joining a potential ownership group to buy the Broncos, but it’s unclear if his commitment to ESPN will impact that plan. - It seems that there are three possibilities. - One, Manning might not view himself as a likely candidate to become a minority owner, or he has withdrawn interest. That seems unlikely. - Two, Manning might be able to continue calling alternate broadcasts of “MNF” while also partially owning an NFL team. It’s unclear if the league would allow such a scenario. - Three, Manning might have a clause in his contract with ESPN that would allow him to leave his commentator duties behind if an opportunity in the NFL becomes available to him. - (Are we missing a fourth possibility? Let us now on Twitter!) - We might not ever find out for sure unless Manning does join the winning bid to purchase the Broncos. A sale could take several months to be finalized. For now, all we know for certain is Manning is under contract with ESPN for three more seasons. Whether that will change remains to be seen. - - Gallery - 30 photos of Peyton Manning's son, Marshall, experiencing the NFL - - - - - - view 30 images - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Email - - - - - Sign up - - - - - - - - Like this article? - Sign up for the Broncos Wire email newsletter to get our top stories in your inbox every morning - - - - An error has occured - - - Please re-enter your email address. - - - - - - Thanks for signing up! - - - You'll now receive the top Broncos Wire stories each day directly in your inbox.
