The Denver Broncos are expected to hire Dom Capers as a “senior defensive assistant,” according to a report from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. - Capers, 71, previously held the same position with the Detroit Lions (2021), Minnesota Vikings (2020) and Jacksonville Jaguars (2019). He served as the Green Bay Packers’ defensive coordinator from 2009-2017. - Before coaching in Green Bay, Capers was a defensive coordinator for three other NFL teams and a head coach of two teams (he went 48-80 as head coach). The experienced coach started at the college level in 1972 before working his way up to the NFL in 1986. - Capers will add some experience to Denver’s defensive coaching staff that could help expected new defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero. The Broncos are expected to hire Evero, the Los Angeles Rams’ secondary coach/passing game coordinator, as their new DC after the Super Bowl. - Evero coached under Capers as a member of the Packers’ staff in 2016, and he worked with Vic Fangio while coaching for the San Francisco 49ers before that. Hackett has replaced Fangio as Denver’s new head coach, but it appears that the Broncos will keep elements of Fangio’s defense in place. - - List - - 7 Broncos players scheduled to become restricted free agents - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Email - - - - - Sign up - - - - - - - - Like this article? - Sign up for the Broncos Wire email newsletter to get our top stories in your inbox every morning - - - - An error has occured - - - Please re-enter your email address. - - - - - - Thanks for signing up! - - - You'll now receive the top Broncos Wire stories each day directly in your inbox.
