The Denver Broncos’ defense totaled 36 sacks last season, which put them a little lower than middle of the pack in the NFL (18th). New defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero will aim to help Denver improve that number in 2022. - “You have to affect the quarterback,” Evero said during his introductory press conference on Tuesday. “If you can’t get there with four, you’ve got to bring five. If you can’t get there with five, you’ve got to bring six.” - Of course, if a four-man rush is generating pressure, there’s no need to send extra rushers (especially when Aaron Donald and Von Miller are two of the four rushers, as was the case in L.A.). But if the Broncos need to blitz to pressure opposing quarterbacks, Evero won’t hesitate to take action. - “We’ll bring pressure when we need to. That’s just going to all depend on the rush. It’s hard to say right now what exactly are we going to be …. Once we get the roster finalized and all that, then we’re going to truly know what we’re going to be and what our identity is going to be in terms of the coverages, pressures, and those things that we’re going to run.” - Denver’s current rush options under contract for 2022 include Bradley Chubb, Malik Reed, Jonathon Cooper, Shelby Harris, Dre’Mont Jones and McTelvin Agim. The Broncos will likely add at least one edge defender and more interior defensive line depth this offseason. - Follow the Broncos Wire Podcast: - Apple Podcasts | Spotify | Google Podcasts - - - List - - Broncos fans loved Peyton Manning's color scheme for Michelob Ultra's Super Bowl commercial - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Email - - - - - Sign up - - - - - - - - Like this article? - Sign up for the Broncos Wire email newsletter to get our top stories in your inbox every morning - - - - An error has occured - - - Please re-enter your email address. - - - - - - Thanks for signing up! - - - You'll now receive the top Broncos Wire stories each day directly in your inbox.
