Whether its through the NFL draft or free agency (or perhaps both), the Denver Broncos are expected to bring in outside linebackers this offseason. - Denver traded Von Miller to the Los Angeles Rams mid-season in 2021 and they never truly replaced him. Malik Reed has been a serviceable fill-in starter, but he’s a better fit as a rotational edge defender than as a full-time starter. - Bradley Chubb is healthy again and potentially poised for a bounce-back year, but the Broncos need a marquee pass rusher to start across from Chubb. - “With the edge rushers, kind of like corners, you can’t have enough,” general manager George Paton said at the NFL combine on Tuesday. “You need to pressure the quarterback in this league. - “I do think we have some really good, young players with Jonathon Cooper, [Stephen] Weatherly is out of contract, Malik Reed, obviously we have Chubb. But you just can’t have enough. I think there’s some talented ones in free agency, and I think there’s a lot of depth in the draft.” - The top edge defenders in this year’s NFL draft are Kayvon Thibodeaux, Aidan Hutchinson, David Ojabo, George Karlaftis and Jermaine Johnson II, according to Draft Wire’s rankings. - Some of the top pass rushers available in free agency are Miller, Chandler Jones, Jadeveon Clown, Haason Reddick and Harold Landry. - NFL free agency begins March 16. The draft will be held April 28-30. - Follow the Broncos Wire Podcast: - Apple Podcasts | Spotify | Google Podcasts - - - List - - 17 Broncos players scheduled to become unrestricted free agents - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Email - - - - - Sign up - - - - - - - - Like this article? - Sign up for the Broncos Wire email newsletter to get our top stories in your inbox every morning - - - - An error has occured - - - Please re-enter your email address. - - - - - - Thanks for signing up! - - - You'll now receive the top Broncos Wire stories each day directly in your inbox.
