When he knew a trade to the Denver Broncos was possible, former Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson reached out to Peyton Manning to get his perspective on changing teams and landing in Denver. - Manning was the perfect person to ask as he once moved from the Indianapolis Colts to the Broncos and he went on to reach a pair of Super Bowls with Denver late in his career. - During his introductory press conference on Wednesday, Wilson revealed the items that he asked Manning about, topics including the city of Denver, schools for his family, the Broncos’ organization and more. - “I wanted to make sure that, ‘Hey, what went well? What didn’t go so well? What did you learn? What did you learn about yourself as a player?'” Wilson recalled. “I think Peyton is one of the best minds in the game and one of the best throwers in the game. From going through that experience of being in Indy a place that he was at for almost 16-plus years, or whatever it was, to come here. It’s a big decision.” - Manning did an excellent job transitioning from Indianapolis to Denver and Wilson wants to follow his lead — and do even better, if possible. - “I’ve always known that what I believe about great players, the best in the world and everything else, is that you’ve got to be really, really great at being consistent,” Wilson said. “But also, you’ve got to be really, really great at adjusting. This is a time to adjust. That’s what my mindset was.” - Manning’s firsthand knowledge could help Wilson’s transition go smoothly, which will ultimately help not just the quarterback but also the Broncos. Even six years after his retirement, Manning still remains close to the team and a resource for the club. That’s the kind of ex-player fans would love to see involved in ownership. - Follow the Broncos Wire Podcast: - Apple Podcasts | Spotify | Google Podcasts - - - List - - Russell Wilson trade: Seahawks fan provides Seattle perspective for Broncos fans - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Email - - - - - Sign up - - - - - - - - Like this article? - Sign up for the Broncos Wire email newsletter to get our top stories in your inbox every morning - - - - An error has occured - - - Please re-enter your email address. - - - - - - Thanks for signing up! - - - You'll now receive the top Broncos Wire stories each day directly in your inbox.
