DJ Jones wouldn’t go as far as to confirm that he turned down a bigger offer from another team to join the Denver Broncos, but he did confirm that the addition of quarterback Russell Wilson played a role in his decision. - “We had a lot of love from teams, but I felt like this was home from the jump — especially when they made the move on ‘Russ,'” Jones said during his introductory press conference Thursday. “I knew it was somewhere I wanted to be. I want to win immediately. That’s what they’re doing here. That’s what we are doing here.” - Jones previously played for the San Francisco 49ers, where he faced Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks twice a season. He’s witnessed firsthand the kind of impact Wilson can have on a game. - “When I knew he was the quarterback, I didn’t flinch,” Jones said. “I wanted to be here from the jump.” - Jones has played against Wilson’s Seahawks seven times in his career, totaling 22 tackles (including three tackles behind the line of scrimmage), one quarterback hit and one sack in those contests. He’s known as a run-stuffer, but Jones can also generate pressure as a pass rusher. - “He knows how to get to the quarterback,” Wilson said of Jones on Wednesday. “To add him — good job, George [Paton]. To add him is pretty great. - “He knows how to get to the quarterback. He knows how to stuff the run. He’s aggressive. He’ll chase after you. He’ll never give up. I had nightmares against him and the 49ers. He’s a tremendous football player.” - Jones, 27, is entering his sixth season in the NFL. - Follow the Broncos Wire Podcast: - Apple Podcasts | Spotify | Google Podcasts - - - Gallery - These 25 celebrities are Broncos fans - - - - - - view 24 images - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Email - - - - - Sign up - - - - - - - - Like this article? - Sign up for the Broncos Wire email newsletter to get our top stories in your inbox every morning - - - - An error has occured - - - Please re-enter your email address. - - - - - - Thanks for signing up! - - - You'll now receive the top Broncos Wire stories each day directly in your inbox.
