After trading Noah Fant to the Seattle Seahawks, the Denver Broncos now have Albert Okwuegbunam left as the top receiving tight end on the roster. - “Albert O” has shown flashes of brilliance in his first two seasons and he posted respectable numbers last year: 33 catches for 330 yards and two touchdowns. It wouldn’t be unreasonable to expect the 23-year-old tight end to take a big step forward this season as the team’s featured tight end. - Denver has big plans for Okwuegbunam, but the team still needs more depth at the position. - “We feel good about Albert,” general manager George Paton said last week. “We’re going to bring in some competition for him. We’re looking, and I’m sure we’ll address it in the draft. Albert has everything you want in a tight end. - “He’s big, he’s athletic and he’s strong. He needs to work on his blocking a little bit, but he’s a mismatch type of guy that I know Coach [Nathaniel] Hackett really values. We’re really high on Albert.” - Speaking of blocking, the Broncos did bring in Eric Tomlinson, one of the best (if not the best) blocking tight ends to hit free agency this year. Tomlinson will be a key player in the team’s run game, but Denver will still want another receiving option at the position. - Paton all but guaranteed the Broncos will add a TE in April’s draft. - Follow the Broncos Wire Podcast: - Apple Podcasts | Spotify | Google Podcasts - - - List - - Russell Wilson trade: Seahawks fan provides Seattle perspective for Broncos fans - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Email - - - - - Sign up - - - - - - - - Like this article? - Sign up for the Broncos Wire email newsletter to get our top stories in your inbox every morning - - - - An error has occured - - - Please re-enter your email address. - - - - - - Thanks for signing up! - - - You'll now receive the top Broncos Wire stories each day directly in your inbox.
