Randy Gregory was excited to join the Denver Broncos this offseason not just because of the addition of quarterback Russell Wilson, but also because of the offensive weapons overall — and the defensive talent, of course. - “I’m really excited,” Gregory said last Friday. “I don’t know what’s in store for me, but I really believe in this team and this unit. Have a lot of good pieces on offense obviously. We played against [the Broncos] last year, I saw first-hand Javonte [Williams]. He’s a hard guy to bring down. - “You have receivers out there, you have a quarterback, have a good o-line, then the pieces you have on defense, obviously me fitting in there, really feel like we have a good unit here.” - Last year, Denver was 4-4 going into a November showdown with Dallas, a team that was 6-1 at the time. The Broncos weren’t expected to put up much of a fight, but they shocked the Cowboys with a 30-16 win. - That game showed Gregory everything he needed to know about Denver. - “For me, I’m a defensive guy but I understand the importance of having a good offensive unit and the effect it can have on you as a defense and the effect they can have on the season and the games as a whole,” Gregory said. - “That was really the biggest selling point was the wide receivers [Denver] has, the running back [Denver] has. Like I said earlier, I had the ability to play against you guys, and I went in thinking one thing about the team and it felt completely different after the game.” - That upset win played a role in the Broncos landing a big free agent, yet another reminder that even seemingly “meaningless” games matter in the NFL. - Follow the Broncos Wire Podcast: - Apple Podcasts | Spotify | Google Podcasts - - - List - - Randy Gregory signing: Cowboys fan provides Dallas perspective for Broncos fans - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Email - - - - - Sign up - - - - - - - - Like this article? - Sign up for the Broncos Wire email newsletter to get our top stories in your inbox every morning - - - - An error has occured - - - Please re-enter your email address. - - - - - - Thanks for signing up! - - - You'll now receive the top Broncos Wire stories each day directly in your inbox.
