NFL teams are allowed to host 30 out-of-town draft prospects each offseason and the Denver Broncos kicked off their pre-draft visits last week. - Coastal Carolina running back Shermari Jones was among the first players to meet with the team at their UCHealth Training Center last week, a source close to the player confirmed to Broncos Wire. - Jones (6-0, 214 pounds) started his college career at Independence Community College before transferring to Coastal Carolina as a junior. In two years with the Chanticleers, Jones rushed 243 times for 1,438 yards and 16 touchdowns. Most of that production — 1,040 yards and 13 touchdowns — came in his senior season last fall. - By NFL draft standards, Coastal Carolina is a small school, but it has produced pro talent in the past. Denver selected running back De’Angelo Henderson from the school in 2017. Overall, the Chanticleers have had 12 players reach the NFL, including notable running back Mike Tolbert. - Jones is the 19th-best running back in this year’s class, according to DraftTek.com‘s rankings. He will presumably be a late-round prospect in April’s draft. - The Broncos will likely add at least one more running back to the roster this offseason, especially if Melvin Gordon does not return. - Follow the Broncos Wire Podcast: - Apple Podcasts | Spotify | Google Podcasts - - - Gallery - These 25 celebrities are Broncos fans - - - - - - view 24 images - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Email - - - - - Sign up - - - - - - - - Like this article? - Sign up for the Broncos Wire email newsletter to get our top stories in your inbox every morning - - - - An error has occured - - - Please re-enter your email address. - - - - - - Thanks for signing up! - - - You'll now receive the top Broncos Wire stories each day directly in your inbox.
