Six years into his NFL career, safety Justin Simmons already ranks 10th on the Denver Broncos’ all-time interceptions list with 21 takeaways. - Simmons, 28, has grabbed five interceptions in each of the last two seasons and if he does that again in 2022, would move into an eighth-place tie with former cornerback Louis Wright. - Wright earned five Pro Bowl selections and recognition on the NFL’s 1970s All-Decade team after playing for the Broncos from 1975-1986. He is also a member of the Broncos’ Ring of Fame and 50th Anniversary Team. - Simmons, meanwhile, has averaged about four interceptions per season in his career thus far. If he continues that pace, Simmons will have 33 interceptions when his current contract expires in 2025. That would put him sixth on the team’s all-time list, only trailing Super Bowl-champion Tyrone Braxton (34), Hall of Famer Champ Bailey (34), club legend Billy Thompson (40), five-time Pro Bowler Goose Gonsoulin (43) and franchise-leader Steve Foley (44). - Entering his seventh season, Simmons has a pair of second-team AP All-Pro honors on his resume and one Pro Bowl nod (plus Pro Bowl alternate recognition in 2021). He’s well on his way to joining a prestigious list of the top defensive backs in franchise history. - - Gallery - 10 Broncos in the Pro Football Hall of Fame - - - - - - view 14 images - - - - - Follow the Broncos Wire Podcast: - Apple Podcasts | Spotify | Google Podcasts - - - List - - 7 key dates for Broncos fans to know this offseason - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Email - - - - - Sign up - - - - - - - - Like this article? - Sign up for the Broncos Wire email newsletter to get our top stories in your inbox every morning - - - - An error has occured - - - Please re-enter your email address. - - - - - - Thanks for signing up! - - - You'll now receive the top Broncos Wire stories each day directly in your inbox.
