The Denver Broncos traded star outside linebacker Von Miller to the Los Angeles Rams in November in exchange for second- and third-round picks in the 2022 NFL draft. - The move made sense for Denver because Miller is scheduled to become a 33-year-old free agent in March and the Broncos weren’t true contenders in 2021. Trading Miller allowed Denver to acquire extra draft picks while giving the edge defender a chance to chase another title. Win-win. - When the Rams made the playoffs, their draft picks traded to the Broncos automatically had a ceiling of 19th in their respective rounds. After winning in the wild-card round, L.A.’s pick ceiling dropped to 25th. - Now, after winning in the divisional round, the highest the picks could be is 29th. Advancing to the Super Bowl would mean the Rams’ picks would be either 31st or 32nd. - There might not be much of a difference between 25th and 29th, but there’s a obviously big gap from 19th and 32nd. Even if the picks end up being (very) late in the second and third rounds, though, the trade made sense for Denver, and Broncos Wire will be rooting for Von to win another Super Bowl. - Follow the Broncos Wire Podcast: - Apple Podcasts | Spotify | Google Podcasts - - - - - Take Our Poll - - - Gallery - Broncos throwback: 50 best photos from Super Bowl 50 - - - - - - view 50 images - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Email - - - - - Sign up - - - - - - - - Like this article? - Sign up for the Broncos Wire email newsletter to get our top stories in your inbox every morning - - - - An error has occured - - - Please re-enter your email address. - - - - - - Thanks for signing up! - - - You'll now receive the top Broncos Wire stories each day directly in your inbox.
