USAT: Lions Wire

The latest wave of 2022 NFL mock drafts is updated for the Senior Bowl week. Between the Shrine Bowl and Senior Bowl, most of the NFL and NFL draft movers and shakers were together in person for the first time. It’s provided a little more insight into where teams might be looking and helped slot the players with more confidence. - The latest three-round projections from Draft Wire and editor Luke Easterling recalibrate the draft slotting a bit. While it doesn’t impact the Lions with their first pick at No. 2, several of the picks between Detroit’s first pick and the Rams’ first-rounder and Lions’ second-rounder have shifted. - Easterling is quite confident in the position the Lions will choose, if not the exact player, at No. 2 overall. This time, it’s Michigan EDGE Aidan Hutchinson, - This pick will be an edge rusher, whether it’s Hutchinson or Oregon’s Kayvon Thibodeaux. While Thibodeaux might have more athleticism and a higher ceiling, he’s not quite as consistent, polished or as complete a defender as Hutchinson right now. - The next pick is a new wrinkle. Thanks to a knee injury, Alabama’s speedy WR Jameson Williams is available at No. 32. He gets the nod with the caveat that it might not produce results immediately. - Safety remains a critical need, and Draft Wire hits that with the second-rounder. Michigan’s Daxton Hill stays close to Ann Arbor and projects as an instant starter in Detroit. The third-round pick goes back to wideout with Nevada’s Romeo Doubs. While he didn’t excel in Mobile, Doubs has the athletic profile of pending free agent Josh Reynolds, who made a positive splash on Detroit’s offense after being acquired midseason. - - - - - - - - - - - - Email - - - - - Sign up - - - - - - - - Like this article? - Sign up for the Lions Wire email newsletter to get our top stories in your inbox every morning - - - - An error has occured - - - Please re-enter your email address. - - - - - - Thanks for signing up! - - - You'll now receive the top Lions Wire stories each day directly in your inbox.
