The Jacksonville Jaguars’ coaching staff feels like it’s nearly complete, but a few vacancies remain. One that many fans would say is the most important is the vacancy at the tight ends coach position, as Doug Pederson has heavily relied on the position for production in the past. - However, on Tuesday, The Athletic’s Jeff Zrebiec reported that the Jags have filled the role, and they will do so with a familiar face to the fans down in Duval. That assistant’s name is Richard Angulo, who formerly played tight end for the Jags under Jack Del Rio from 2007-08. - Angulo will join the Jags after garnering eight years of NFL assistant experience, all of which came with the Baltimore Ravens. - - The Ravens are losing their assistant OL coach Richard Angulo to the Jacksonville Jaguars. He'll be the TE coach for Jacksonville, so John Harbaugh will have another vacancy to fill. - — Jeff Zrebiec (@jeffzrebiec) February 15, 2022 - - - Angulo started his NFL assistant career as an intern for the Ravens in 2014. Then in the following two seasons, he was hired to be their tight ends coach before becoming an assistant offensive line coach for the team from 2017-21. - As an assistant offensive line coach, Angulo coached notables like Marshal Yanda, Orlando Brown, and Ronnie Stanley, to name a few. He also got to coach Darren Waller (before he was with the Oakland Raiders) and Maxx Williams as a tight ends coach. - Now, he will be returning to the assistant role he’s probably most comfortable with as a former tight end. Like several other assistants on the Jags’ staff, he will bring a good amount of player experience to the staff, as he once was a seventh-round pick for the St. Louis Rams in 2003. - Angulo played in 27 games as a player and registered six starts, all of which came with the Jags. He finished his tenure as a player with 17 receptions for 155 yards and a touchdown between his tenures with the Jags and Minnesota Vikings, though he made stops with the Rams and others briefly. - - - - - - - - - - - - Email - - - - - Sign up - - - - - - - - Like this article? - Sign up for the Jaguars Wire email newsletter to get our top stories in your inbox every morning - - - - An error has occured - - - Please re-enter your email address. - - - - - - Thanks for signing up! - - - You'll now receive the top Jaguars Wire stories each day directly in your inbox.
