When asking fans about the Jacksonville Jaguars’ 2021 rookie class, most will undoubtedly say that the most disappointing issue with the group was their lack of time on the field. That was especially the case for safety Andre Cisco, who fans spent most of the season wondering when he’d be properly used on defense. - Finally, Cisco’s time came to become a starter after the unfortunate ankle injury Rayshawn Jenkins sustained in the Jags’ second game against the Houston Texans, which ended his season. Cisco started in the last three games as a result of the team being down a safety, and he flashed to the point where fans became even more puzzled on why he wasn’t playing earlier. - While he was far from perfect in the backfield, Cisco ended up with a 67.9 overall Pro Football Focus grade that could’ve been better if he would’ve received experience earlier in the year. Still, that’s a figure that put him ahead of all rookies drafted in the third round last April. - - Highest graded rookie third round picks from the 2021 season - Andre Cisco: 67.9 Quinn Meinerz: 67.4 Nico Collins: 65.6 pic.twitter.com/wo5oGh0OSz - — PFF Draft (@PFF_College) February 21, 2022 - - - Next season, Cisco will have a lot to build on after showing that he can be around the ball as frequently as anyone. He even said he’d like to be used as a moveable piece on the defense by the next defensive coordinator after the season was over. - Only time will tell if he gets that wish, but with Mike Caldwell coming into the organization as the Jags’ new defensive coordinator, Cisco could take a leap forward when considering the success the safeties had at Caldwell’s last stop in Tampa. - - - - - - - - - - - - Email - - - - - Sign up - - - - - - - - Like this article? - Sign up for the Jaguars Wire email newsletter to get our top stories in your inbox every morning - - - - An error has occured - - - Please re-enter your email address. - - - - - - Thanks for signing up! - - - You'll now receive the top Jaguars Wire stories each day directly in your inbox.
