The Miami Dolphins trade for Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill added another twist to one of the wildest offseasons in NFL history. Other marquee moves include Russell Wilson being traded to the Denver Broncos and Davante Adams being sent to the Las Vegas Raiders. - The Hill and Adams trades specifically will likely add another potential roadblock for the Jaguars’ plans to draft a wide receiver with the No. 33 overall pick. Following free agency, many in the football community felt Jacksonville needed to take a wide receiver with its second-round pick. - These latest trades make that more difficult because it likely ensures that the Green Bay Packers and Chiefs will select wideouts at pick No. 22 and 29 overall, respectively, to replace their stars. Those aren’t the only two teams that could select a wide receiver in the back-half of the first round, either. The Pittsburgh Steelers (No. 20), New England Patriots (No. 21), Dallas Cowboys (No. 24), Buffalo Bills (No. 25), Tennessee Titans (No. 26), and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (No. 27) could be in the market for one, too. - If a run of receivers starts in the latter part of the first round, the Jaguars may not be able to land an X-receiver at pick No. 33. General manager Trent Baalke and head coach Doug Pederson could also elect to wait to take one in the third round. - However, it’s a deep wide receivers class, which bodes well for Jacksonville. Another option for the franchise is that it could be aggressive and trade back into the first round. But Baalke has only chosen one wideout in the first round during stints as general manager in Jacksonville and San Francisco. - The best option at this point for the Jaguars is to trade back into the first round or wait until later in the draft to take a receiver. However, the issue with that is that the team would be asking for a lot out of a rookie wide receiver, but we’ve seen them respond in the past when looking at Justin Jefferson, and Ja’Marr Chase. - - - “Touchdown Jaguars!” will be published weekly, giving Jags Wire readers a new go-to podcast to hear the latest in news, rumors, and more.
