The Kansas City Chiefs have chosen their drum leader for the AFC championship game at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium against the Cincinnati Bengals. - It’s becoming clear that the franchise has a new tradition for the AFC title game. Chiefs Chairman and CEO Clark Hunt will serve as the drum leader when his team takes the field against the Bengals on Sunday. In each of the last three seasons, Hunt was also the drum leader for the conference championship. - Of course, Kansas City and Cincinnati will be competing for Lamar Hunt Trophy, named after the Chiefs’ founder and Clark’s father. The Chiefs won that trophy for the first time when they defeated the Tennessee Titans in 2019. They won it for the second time last season against the Buffalo Bills and will look to make it a third-straight year on Sunday. - For that reason, Hunt is the perfect person to lead fans in this pregame celebration. He’ll have some backup too, with former Chiefs LB Derrick Johnson and RB Jamaal Charles up on the GEHA Drum Deck as co-Dipardo Spirit Leaders. Pro Football Hall of Fame guard Will Shields will also be in attendance as the honorary coin toss captain for Kansas City. - Other pregame entertainment will include a national anthem performance from Grammy award-winning singer-songwriter, actor and author Ashanti. The Fort Leonard Wood Joint Services Color Guard will present the colors during the performance. There will be a flyover featuring four A-10 Thunderbolts from Whiteman Air Force Base in Knob Noster, Missouri — which has also become something of a tradition for the AFC title game. - There will also be some entertainment at halftime with a special performance by Walker Hayes, who will surely perform his hit song “Fancy Like.” - All gates at Arrowhead Stadium will open at Noon CT ahead of a 2:05 p.m. CT kickoff. - - List - - Final injury report for Chiefs vs. Bengals, AFC championship game - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Email - - - - - Sign up - - - - - - - - Like this article? - Sign up for the Chiefs Wire email newsletter to get our top stories in your inbox every morning - - - - An error has occured - - - Please re-enter your email address. - - - - - - Thanks for signing up! - - - You'll now receive the top Chiefs Wire stories each day directly in your inbox.
