- - - The Kansas City Chiefs have finally made another move in free agency. - Former Pittsburgh Steelers WR JuJu Smith-Schuster announced on Twitter that he’ll be signing with the Chiefs. The team made a run after him when he was a free agent in 2021, but came up just short. Now, they get the deal done to bring in another weapon for quarterback Patrick Mahomes. - Reports state that it’ll be a one-year, $10.75M deal for Smith-Schuster, but his cap hit and incentives will tell the true story here. They offered him a similar contract in 2021, but this year the offer was good enough to get the job done. - - #ChiefsKingdom Let’s Go! - — JuJu Smith-Schuster (@TeamJuJu) March 18, 2022 - - - A former second-round draft pick out of USC in 2017, the 25-year-old Smith-Schuster has spent the past five seasons in Pittsburgh. 2021 was a down year for Smith-Schuster, who dealt with injury and only appeared in five regular-season games. In 2020, he started 14 games and recorded 97 catches for 831 yards and nine touchdowns. - The hope here is that Smith-Schuster can return to form and help take some heat off of Travis Kelce and Tyreek Hill. The team clearly lacked a legitimate threat behind those two players after the departure of Sammy Watkins in 2021. - - List - - 6 takeaways from Chiefs S Justin Reid's intro press conference - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Email - - - - - Sign up - - - - - - - - Like this article? - Sign up for the Chiefs Wire email newsletter to get our top stories in your inbox every morning - - - - An error has occured - - - Please re-enter your email address. - - - - - - Thanks for signing up! - - - You'll now receive the top Chiefs Wire stories each day directly in your inbox.
