- - - The Kansas City Chiefs are set to sign an intriguing free agent at the cornerback position. - According to his agency, Synergy Sports International, former Jacksonville Jaguars, Arizona Cardinals and San Francisco 49ers CB Luqman “Luq” Barcoo is to sign with the Chiefs. Barcoo played in three NFL games with Jaguars in 2020, including one start, amassing 10 total tackles and one pass defended. - The FBS co-interception leader (9) with San Diego State in the 2019 college football season, Barcoo actually had a pre-draft virtual meeting with the Chiefs in 2020. He ultimately signed on with the Jaguars as an undrafted free agent and like many who entered the NFL during the COVID-altered year, he didn’t get much of a fair shake to catch on with the team. He didn’t play again after Week 3 in 2020 and was waived ahead of the 2021 NFL season. - - Congrats to SSI client Luq Barcoo @luqmanbarcoo on signing with the Chiefs @Chiefs! Big things ahead! #ChiefsKingdom #Playmaker #DBFranchise - — Synergy Sports Int'l (@SynergySportInt) March 22, 2022 - - - In 2021, Barcoo was claimed by the Cardinals and spent time with their team during the offseason. He was waived ahead of 53-man roster cuts, but he re-signed to their practice squad. In October, Arizona dropped Barcoo who was then signed to the 49ers practice squad. When the season ended, he wasn’t re-signed by San Francisco on a reserve/future deal. - Barcoo is still just 23 years old. At 6-1 and 190 pounds, he’s got good size. He never had a formal pro day, but he’s said to run a 4.4 40-yard dash. He’s got the ability to play special teams and could potentially develop into something more for Kansas City. - - List - - 4 things to know about new Chiefs OT Geron Christian - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Email - - - - - Sign up - - - - - - - - Like this article? - Sign up for the Chiefs Wire email newsletter to get our top stories in your inbox every morning - - - - An error has occured - - - Please re-enter your email address. - - - - - - Thanks for signing up! - - - You'll now receive the top Chiefs Wire stories each day directly in your inbox.
