There have been reports circulating that the NFL intentionally chose not to release air pressure data during a study after the fallout of Deflategate. Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk had findings of his own in an explosive report. - Per Florio’s report, NFL Executive Vice President Troy Vincent told ESPN’s Chris Mortensen that 11 of the New England Patriots’ 12 football used in the AFC title game against the Indianapolis Colts were found to be under-inflated — this report was untrue. - The second major finding was that the league did not release air pressure data gathered during the 2015 season that aligned with the same PSI as the football’s used in the 2014 AFC Championship Game. - In the wake of these findings, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell didn’t have much to say as a result of the findings. While speaking to the media on Wednesday, the commissioner said he didn’t know what happened to the data. As transcribed by Zack Cox of NESN.com, the commissioner made it clear that league did not look back at the data. - “It’s a long time since I’ve thought about Deflategate,” Goodell told reporters in Los Angeles. “… We were very clear that we were going to do spot checks to make sure that people were following the policies. That is something that we fully engaged in, and I don’t know what happened to the data, to be honest with you. We don’t look back at that. We just make sure there’s no violations. - “That’s the purpose of the spot checks — are there violations, and if there are violations, we need to look into it. But thankfully, we did not see any.” - Deflategate will always be a topic of discussion as it relates to Goodell and the Patriots. In what is one of the more polarizing investigations in the league’s history, the commissioner did not offer any new developments. - - RelatedCooper Kupp knew Kendrick Bourne was going to be impactful in the NFL - - - - - - - - - - - - Email - - - - - Sign up - - - - - - - - Like this article? - Sign up for the Patriots Wire email newsletter to get our top stories in your inbox every morning - - - - An error has occured - - - Please re-enter your email address. - - - - - - Thanks for signing up! - - - You'll now receive the top Patriots Wire stories each day directly in your inbox.
