- - - Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Rob Gronkowski has had one of the most successful careers of all-time at his position. - As the dominant force he was at tight end, there weren’t many matchups on the field that gave him trouble. During a Q&A session for Autograph NFTs earlier this week, he was able to pinpoint his most difficult matchup, via MassLive’s Chris Mason. - The tight end had a successful New England Patriots career, recording 521 receptions for 7,861 yards and 79 touchdowns — matchups were rarely a problem for him. However, he admitted that former Patriots safety Patrick Chung was able to give him the most trouble. - Chung was a key member of the New England defense, playing with the team from 2009-2012, and then rejoining the organization from 2014 until his retirement in 2019. - “I’m going to go with my teammate: He’s kinda underrated, he played about 10 years in the league, he just retired last year. It would be Patrick Chung. “I wouldn’t say he’s considered one of the best out there, but personally I went against him in practice all the time and watched him in games. He was just super consistent. - “He always brought it. He was physical. He was quick. He was fast. And he brought his A-game every time. He didn’t like getting beat. If he got beat, he understood what went wrong and then came back and fixed it. He was always super competitive. So Patrick Chung, I believe also made me a better player throughout my career.” - Chung was able to win three Super Bowls during his time in New England. For his part, Gronkowski was an integral part of three Super Bowls in his own right. Together, they helped provide stability on both sides of the football for New England. - - List - - Patriots offseason preview: Where does New England stand at TE? - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Email - - - - - Sign up - - - - - - - - Like this article? - Sign up for the Patriots Wire email newsletter to get our top stories in your inbox every morning - - - - An error has occured - - - Please re-enter your email address. - - - - - - Thanks for signing up! - - - You'll now receive the top Patriots Wire stories each day directly in your inbox.
