J.C. Jackson is one of 16 unrestricted free agents slated to hit the market for the New England Patriots this offseason. - Jackson has been a cornerstone of the Patriots secondary. Signing with the Patriots as an undrafted free agent in 2018, he has enjoyed stellar four-year tenure for New England. Named to his first Pro Bowl in 2021, Jackson recorded eight interceptions and 58 tackles. Last year was also his first season in which he played all of New England’s regular-season games. - Jackson has always been a ball hawk 25 career interceptions in 62 games played. - With the lack of depth in the secondary, it would make sense for the Patriots to bring the Jackson back. However, limited cap space puts them in a difficult position. New England has just over $8.3 million in cap space, and they have to sign several key free agents. Dont’a Hightower, Devin McCourty, and Matthew Slater are just some of the names that are hitting the free-agent market this offseason. - Should the Patriots re-sign Jackson and continue strangling the secondary? Alternatively, should the Patriots let him walk and have more space for other free agents? Let’s take a look.
