Difficult decisions are ahead for the New England Patriots. - Bill Belichick already made one of those choices by releasing Kyle Van Noy, who played 80 percent of defensive snaps in 2021, to clear up cap space. The Patriots elected to not use the franchise tag on J.C. Jackson and there simply isn’t enough money to make similar decisions as the team did last offseason. - It’s going to be a conservative and the timing of being depleted of cap space ($10.2 million) is unfortunate due to the amount of veteran free agents. Devin McCourty, Jackson, Dont’a Hightower, Trent Brown, Matt Slater, Ted Karras, James White and Ja’Whaun Bentley are just a some of the players who are hitting the market. - One important player who wasn’t mentioned on that list is the 32-year-old Jamie Collins. He’s had multiple stints with the Patriots and his future in New England is uncertain. - Let’s take a dive into Collins’ situation with free agency ahead. - - List - - 6 linebackers the Patriots should sign in 2022 free agency
