The New England Patriots should probably do what the Buffalo Bills did for Josh Allen. Bill Belichick should probably do what the Cincinnati Bengals did for Joe Burrow — and what the Arizona Cardinals did for Kyler Murray and what the Dallas Cowboys did for Dak Prescott. - New England needs to get Mac Jones a No. 1 wideout. The Patriots tend to zig while the NFL zags. But in this case, they’d be wise to follow the trend and surround Jones with even more talent than what they gave him in 2021. Yes, they spent huge money on tight ends Jonnu Smith and Hunter Henry, who are tied as the third-highest-paid players at their position. Belichick also shelled out for receiver Nelson Agholor at about $11 million per year. Even with wideouts Kendrick Bourne and Jakobi Meyers looking solid, the Patriots lack a truly elite option in their offense. And they’d be wise to change that during the 2022 offseason. - The problem, of course, is that it’s difficult for any team — let alone the Patriots, with the 21st overall pick and roughly $20 million in cap space — to find a No. 1 option. So they may have to get creative. - Follow the Patriots Wire Podcast: - Apple Podcasts | Spotify | Google Podcasts
