The New Orleans Pelicans signed Jameer Nelson yesterday in a report published by Shams Carania, and released bench unit scoring guard Jordan Crawford to make space on the roster for the veteran point guard.   - Jordan Crawford dubbed "Instant Grits," was a popular late season addition last season, and averaged 39% from deep, but unfortunately and unguaranteed contract made him the most moveable piece at a time when the Pelicans seem desperate for depth at the point guard position.   - Enter Jameer Nelson.  The former All Star with the Orlando Magic enters his 14th season with the Pels after having finished last season in Chris Finch's system with the Denver Nuggets.  Nelson averaged nine and five on 39% from three, 44% from the field.  He should provide leadership at the point, as well as relinquish Jrue Holiday back to his more comfortable two position.   - Follow us @TheBirdWrites - Blogtalkradio.com/thebirdwritesnba - Itunes:
