- - - - The Miami Dolphins are interviewing former New Orleans Saints receivers coach Curtis Johnson, a former Tulane head coach and Miami Hurricanes receivers coach who has also worked for the Chicago Bears, according to NFL sources @PFN365 - — Aaron Wilson (@AaronWilson_NFL) February 10, 2022 - - - His time with the New Orleans Saints has run out, but longtime wide receivers coach Curtis Johnson is well-positioned to land on his feet. He’s interviewing with the Miami Dolphins after being let go by new Saints head coach Dennis Allen, as first reported by Pro Football Network’s Aaron Wilson, as a candidate for their offensive coordinator job. - First-year Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel has a background on offense himself, and expects to call plays. He’s also brought former Dolphins wide receiver Wes Welker with him from the San Francisco 49ers staff to coach that same position group. - It would make sense for Johnson to work as a senior assistant. McDaniel is going to have a host of responsibilities in his first season on the job, and Welker will be coaching his own receiving corps outside of Kyle Shanahan’s shadow for the first time. Having Johnson as an experienced hand to help out could be the move. - More changes are in store for the Saints coaching staff as Allen continues to evaluate things and move through his to-do list. For their sake, hopefully other departures will draw as much immediate interest as Johnson has upon being let go. Though you have to wonder if Allen may be making a mistake here given how eager other teams are to recruit his castoffs. - - List - - 4 options for Dennis Allen to hire as defensive coordinator - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Email - - - - - Sign up - - - - - - - - Like this article? - Sign up for the Saints Wire email newsletter to get our top stories in your inbox every morning - - - - An error has occured - - - Please re-enter your email address. - - - - - - Thanks for signing up! - - - You'll now receive the top Saints Wire stories each day directly in your inbox.
