We’re just days away from the start of NFL free agency, and while the New Orleans Saints aren’t in a position to be major players on the open market this year they should still be able to address some of their most important team needs. And some of those priorities can be checked off by retaining in-house free agents, even if a few of the more prominent players — Marcus Williams, Terron Armstead, and Kwon Alexander — may get better offers elsewhere. - Some of those losses are easier to accept than others; some combination of James Hurst, Ryan Ramczyk, and maybe a good draft pick can soften the absence of Armstead, while second-year linebacker Pete Werner is positioned well to start in place of Alexander. Replacing Williams is trickier, but there is a path forward. Let’s explore how the Saints can reload at their thinnest positions through free agency:
